What are the important things to remember about SJW?

1. Course fees must be paid before course commencement, and are not refundable. However, if the student cannot complete the course due to circumstances beyond control, Academy SJW will issue a CREDIT NOTE, enabling the student to complete the course at a later date.

2. SJW is closed for Public Holidays on April 2 & 5; May 3 & 31; August 30.

3. There are no classes for Beginners: clients who have not studied English before should take 25 to 50 hours of tuition in their own country to enable them to reach ‘elementary’ (A2) level, before enrolling with us.

4. The minimum age for enrolment at SJW is 18. We do not offer courses for children.

5. Homestay accommodation is available from the Sunday before course commencement. Check-out time is the Saturday morning after the end of the course. It is not possible to extend homestay after the end of the course (except for Cambridge Exam students, who must normally stay an extra week). Homestay fees may be paid in full to SJW before the start of the course, or on a weekly basis directly to the host family.

6. There is no VAT (tax) to pay on SJW course prices or homestay prices.

7. We strongly advise students to take out TRAVEL INSURANCE to cover the stay in England before leaving their home country.

8. ACADEMY SJW IS ACCREDITED AND INSPECTED BY THE BRITISH COUNCIL AND IS A MEMBER OF ENGLISH UK. In the very unlikely event of a serious dispute arising between the school and the client, the client has the right to refer the matter to English UK for settlement, if agreement cannot first be reached with the SJW School Principal.

9. ACADEMY SJW has been licensed by the UK Border Agency to enrol international students under Tier 4 of the Points Based System.

What are the accommodation possibilities?

We will happily provide information about local hotels, apartments and studios if requested. The most popular accommodation option is ‘Homestay’, living and eating with a local family. Prices are:

  • OPTION A (HOMESTAY): single bedroom, with breakfast and dinner: £140 per person per week.
  • OPTION B (HOMESTAY): shared bedroom, with breakfast and dinner: £230 per couple per week.
  • OPTION C (PRIVATE HOME): single bedroom, with breakfast only: £110 per person per week.
